Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra CM, speaking about the proposed 400 KV substation at Vikhroli to meet Mumbai's future electricity needs, stated that the project, which was approved in 2009 for uninterrupted power supply to Mumbai, should not be delayed any further.

After reviewing the GIS sub-centre project, CM Thackeray is said to be taking serious note of the issue. Moreover, in view of the recent power outage in Mumbai, the CM is said to be reviewing various projects related to the power sector. As per reports, a meeting was held at Varsha's residence under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister in connection with the Vikhroli project. MP Vinayak Raut, Chief Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Principal Advisor to the Chief Minister Ajoy Mehta, Additional Chief Secretary Ashish Singh, Principal Secretary Vikas Kharge, Principal Secretary Energy Asim Kumar Gupta, Chairman and Managing Director of Mahatransport Company Dinesh Waghmare were present on the occasion.

According to sources, additional arrangements for power supply are expected to be made by 2023. For this, a proposal has been made to construct a 400 KV power line from the Kharghar substation.

Moreover, Tata Power has agreed to transfer the land to Adani Transmission Limited for construction of the Vikhroli project by next week. After taking possession of the land, the work of the project should be completed by 2023 in any case, as informed by the CM.
