Maharashtra: CR Observes ‘Swachha Station’ – Swachhta Pakhwada

Major stations geared up for the Swachh station abhiyaan, which included shramdan activities coupled with intensive cleaning of stations and disposal of garbage through proper segregation.

Swachhata Pakhwada continued on cleaning activities of stations all over Central Railway. Major stations geared up for the Swachh station abhiyaan, which included shramdan activities coupled with intensive cleaning of stations and disposal of garbage through proper segregation.

Mumbai Division

In spite of heavy rains, Swachh Station activities were carried out viz. Kalyan station concentrated on the entire cleaning of the passenger waiting hall, platform and FOB. It was ensured that proper use of masks and safety gears by the cleaning staff. Mulund station gave a fresh and new look to the station after the entire platform area and booking office entrance was cleaned. A small plantation was organized in the garden area in Mulund station. Similar activities were carried out at Sion, Kalva, Karjat, Kurla and CSMT. 

Pune Division

At Miraj, Kirloskarwadi and Satara stations, cleaning of premises outside the stations followed by cleaning of the booking offices by safai karmacharis were carried out. Later intensive cleaning of passenger waiting rooms and toilets took place. At Pune station, dry and wet waste dustbins were neatly labelled for proper disposal. Spitting stains on foot over bridges and seating areas on platform poles were thoroughly cleaned. 

Nagpur Division

Nagpur division organized its cleaning activities with the participation of station staff and Chief Health inspector. Safai karmacharis cleaned the entire platform area of Ajni station. All location authorities in the Nagpur division ensured segregation of dry and wet waste with proper installation of dual dustbins neatly labelled for differentiation.

Solapur Division

In the Solapur division, intensive cleaning was carried out at all major stations. Kopargaon station cleaning staff were engaged in cleaning the entire platform area covering all platforms.

Bhusaval Division

Zonal Railway Training Institute, Bhusaval organized a Swachhata rally participated by Principal ZRTI,  faculty officers, instructors and around 80 trainees to create awareness on Cleanliness amongst the public around the area surrounding ZRTI.  At Devlali, staff distributed paper bags to the travelling passengers of Tapovan express to enlighten them on the hazards of plastic to the environment. Garbage clearing and sweeping were also undertaken on the DRM office road at Bhusaval.
