Mumbai Metro has been one of the most-anticipated projects in the city, and the work was stopped for a few months during the coronavirus lockdown. However, post the 'Mission Begin Again' initiative, the work on several metro lines has gained momentum.

As per reports, officials in the concerned department are planning to connect metro lines proposed at Mira Bhayandar, Ghodbunder and Dahisar. MMRDA has expedited the construction of 337 km long network and this is expected to be completed by 2026. Currently, the Metro-9 which is planned between Dahisar and areas in Mira Bhayander, and Metro 7A (Metro 7) Western Expressway between Andheri to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport T-2 are under construction.

Due to this work, the western suburbs, as well as Mira Bhayander, will be connected to the airport. Furthermore, areas in Mira Bhayander, Ghodbunder and Dahisar will also be connected by Metro, and as per records, officials were planning to build a Pandurang Wadi station on the service road in the west, on the Western Express Highway (WEH). However, this would have required officials to demolish several hotels and structures, and keeping this in mind, the decision has been revised and the station will be on the east side WEH.

The station could also be used as a terminus for the other proposed Metro lines and would connect two stations, thereby benefit the passengers on Mira Bhayander, Ghodbunder and Dahisar metro route.

As per reports, officials will be planning an arch as the entry for Dahisar toll Naka, and some alignment will be made for the same. Permissions have been sought by the municipal corporation, and MMRDA will plan the new entry post the completion of Metro work. The design has been prepared for the same. The realignment has benefitted several businesses, and officials have also found a way to avoid demolition and rehabilitation
