The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has finished the work on constructing the viaduct on the complete 18.5km length of the Metro 2A corridor from DN Nagar and Dahisar through the Link Road in Mumbai, highlighted a report by the Times of India.

The Adarsh Nagar section near Oshiwara was the only missing connection in this corridor where the activity had stopped for nearly four years due to usurpations. The I-grider was launched on October 5 at Adarsh Nagar junction, enabling the absent link to be amalgamated. It was in 30 minutes that the 42-tonnes, 24m-long girder was erected. This has enabled the MMRDA to now lay the tracks on this section.

The report quoted, SVR Srinivas, the metropolitan commissioner who elaborated on how they finished the rehabilitation procedure of more than 40 families in four months, adding that it took them 10 days to initiate this girder.

Interestingly, Metro 2A is segregated into Phase I and II, with the MMRDA planning to launch Phase I from Dahanurkarwadi and Dahisar to the Aarey Metro station of Metro 7 by the month of January.

In other developments, the Mumbai Metro One will be prolonging the operation hours of their train services and from earlier this week passengers will be able to take the metro train from 6.30 am onwards.
