School Education Minister and Mumbai City Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar announced the construction of a state-of-the-art air-conditioned lounge at Mumbai Central for State Transport Corporation (ST) drivers and conductors on Monday while inaugurating the 'Hirakani' room. Therefore, better facilities will be available for drivers and conductors coming to Mumbai Central depot from all over the state to rest.


Deepak Kesarkar inaugurated the first 'Hirakani' room built with three percent funds of the District Planning Board at ST's Mumbai Central depot on Monday evening. Vice Chairman and Managing Director of ST Corporation Shekhar Channe, Collector of Mumbai City Rajiv Niwatkar and officials and employees of ST were present on this occasion. On this occasion, Kesarkar interacted with the ST employees and learned about the problems of the employees.

They found the restrooms available for drivers and conductors to be inconvenient. Kesarkar then directed the Mumbai City Collector to set up an air-conditioned rest house with state-of-the-art facilities for women and men at the Mumbai Central Bus Stand from the District Planning Development Fund. Kesarkar said that in future, rest houses equipped with all the facilities for ST employees should be built at every district headquarters location through the district planning and development plan.
