The 'R Central’ division office of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Friday demolished 326 huts that were built on the way to the Global Pagoda in Gorai area near Borivali, as well as on the road leading to Gorai beach. Out of these 326 shacks, 133 shack holders were qualified and rehabilitated in a building for project affected people on Malhar Rao Kulkarni Road. Tourists have to travel through Gorai Road to reach the pagoda as well as Gorai Beach. Most of the tourists visit various places in Gorai village. However, tourists were facing many problems due to the Mahatma Phule Nagar slum standing on this road since 1995.
