According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) official, on Wednesday morning, August 18, a public toilet collapsed in the Poisar area of Mumbai.

In the incident, four people were stuck in the facility but all of them were rescued by locals before the fire brigade and other agencies reached the spot.

However, a 28-year-old was injured while three others were safely rescued.

As per the civic official, the walls and roof of the toilet, located at a chawl in Kamlesh Compound on Bihari Tekdi Road in Poisar western suburb, crashed at around 8 am.

The injured was rushed to the Kandivali-based Shatabdi Hospital, where his condition was reported to be stable, the official added.

This is not the first incident of a building collapse during the monsoons. In the last two months, various such cases were reported in the city.

In July, six people, including a fireman, have been injured in a building collapse in Mumbai’s Andheri area shortly after midnight on July 28. The injured were pulled out of debris and rescued after an under-construction four-storey building collapsed. An official stated that a portion on the north side of Mehta Babu Chawl near Salami hotel in Juhu Galli crashed around 12.30 am.

Earlier, a wall collapsed in Mumbai's Chembur area on July 18, claiming nearly 24 lives as the debris fell on the adjoining houses.
