Power cuts at this time of the year are relatively unheard of. However, the residents of Sion had to face a power cut of over an hour on Sunday night. This even included the Lokmanya Tilak Municipal General Hospital. However, the hospital was not severely affected as the management used the backup generator.
According to the sources power lines at the local substation had tripped which resulted in the outage. It even goes on to add that the repairs were carried out on war footing to restore the power on an urgent basis. BEST committee member Ravi Raja has a different take on this matter. He alleged that the officials took time to detect the fault and restore electicity.
