90 percent of the last phase of the Mumbai to Nagpur Samruddhi Highway project from Igatpuri to Amne has been completed. The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has planned to complete the rest of the work at speed and put this phase into traffic service by the end of July. If this last leg opens for traffic in July, a direct journey from Mumbai to Nagpur will be possible in eight hours with ease. At present, the work of 25 phases of the highway from Bharvir to Igatpuri has been completed and this phase will be put into traffic service from March 3.


The MSRDC has taken up the 701 km long Samruddhi Highway project to connect the state capital and vice capital. The 600 km stretch of this highway from Nagpur to Bharvir is currently in traffic service, and the 25 km stretch from Bharvir to Igatpuri is being opened for traffic from Monday. Public works (undertakings) minister Dada Bhuse will inaugurate this phase. Managing Director Anil Kumar Gaikwad informed that 90 percent of the 75 km stretch from Bharvir to Amne has been completed so far.

The work of a major bridge in the Igatpuri to Amne phase is now pending. Completing this work, it is planned to complete 100 percent of this phase in July. Gaikwad also said that this phase will be implemented immediately if the work is completed. 


After the completion of the Samruddhi project, the MSRDC will take up the work of Nagpur to Goa Shaktipeeth highway. Shaktipeeth Highway is 100 km longer than Samruddhi. This highway will connect 12 districts. Also, Nagpur to Goa distance can be completed in 10 to 11 hours.
