Mumbai Live had published this news that how the builders had cheated MHADA of Rs 14 thousand crores. Since 1992-93, Mhada did not receive any benefits. MHADA is kept in darkness. After the news of Mumbai Live, the state government's came in action. In this case, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Ravindra Waikar instructed to set up the SIT in this case.
Talking to Mumbai Live, Waikar said that the report was submitted in this case, the directive was made to set up SIT for investigation. The culprits who are found guilty will be prosecuted whether the builder or the MHADA official.

What was the matter?
MHADA was supposed to acquire a space of 30 lakh sq. feet after the redevelopment work is done for the old buildings the market value of which comes around 14 thousand crore rupees. But this amount has not been paid back by the builders to the corporation. This area could have been put to good use for building 22 lakh homes.
The officials of MHADA are also involved with the builders. In the report given to the Home Construction Department, the officers of MHADA were excluded from these allegations.
