Mumbai readies for Pro Kabaddi League 2017

The fifth season of the Pro Kabaddi League will kick off on 28 July this year.

PKL 2017 will last for three months, until 28 October 2017, with 12 teams participating. Four new teams are also in the fray this time - Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat. A kitty of Rs 46.99 crore has been spent on getting 227 players for the league.

Nitin Tomar, the costliest of the lot, has been picked by the Uttar Pradesh team for Rs 93 lakh. The league matches will be played across 12 venues in the country, and the home grounds of each team have been included in these. The first match will be played in Hyderabad on 28 July, while the finale will be played out in Chennai. A total of 138 matches will be played over a period of 13 weeks, according to league commissioner Anupam Goswami.
