This one of its kind campaign conceptualized by Arjun Kapoor has brought forward 5 inspiring winners who have stood up for women’s rights.

Arjun Kapoor’s social campaign 'Bend The Gender' is intended to affect social change and celebrate men who have stood up and championed for women’s rights. With 5000 + inspiring entries that highlighted how common people have come forward and championed women’s empowerment, Bend The Gender is off to a flying start.

Arjun felicitated five people whose constant efforts to affect positive change has stood out. These extraordinary men were invited to share their journey and struggles for women’s rights. Winners of this year’s campaign are inspiring people with extraordinary determination and supportive natures.

The first winner of this year’s campaign is coach Javed Mehta, a Commonwealth gold medallist who inspired Rohini Ohri to follow her passion for powerlifting. Ohri has now gold medals at Delhi state levels in both powerlifting and arm wrestling. The second winner is Navi Mumbai resident Prakash Naik, who has inspired both his daughters to ignore societal judgment and follow their dreams. One plays Under 19 cricket for the national team and the second is pursuing engineering and has left the city to pursue her dreams despite social objections.

The third winner, Keval from Masjid Bunder in Mumbai. He didn’t listen to his orthodox family’s diktats and encouraged his wife to follow a career in law. She is now a successful practicing lawyer with over 50 cases to her credit. The fourth winner is Omkar from Mulund in Mumbai, who encouraged his stay at home mother to pursue her education again. Today, she has completed a doctorate. The fifth winner, Nishant wanted to change the point of view of how people looked at mensuration, so he started a festival called MAASIKA Mahautsav in different parts of India.

Arjun said, “We launched 'Bend the Gender' digitally on the anniversary of Ki and Ka. The film has become an inspiration and was a conversation starter in urban India. My character supports his wife and is a stay at home husband, proud of his choices. We were looking for men who have done the same in real life and were real-life inspirations for their community or society at large. We were touched to see the amazing work that men are doing for women empowering in their own ways. I have found the campaign, its response and a chance to interact with these awesome winners very special. We need to celebrate our everyday heroes who are working relentlessly to affect positive social changes.”

Arjun has teamed up with RED FM for this initiative to look for inspiring people who have the passionate desire to attain equal rights for women in society. Bend the Gender awards took place at Phoenix MarketCity Mall in Kurla, Mumbai – the event supporter to the cause of gender equality. The five lucky winners got the chance to meet Arjun and share their inspiring stories. To make things fun and light, Arjun ensured that the winners have a great time. Bend the Gender campaign draws inspiration from Arjun’s hit film Ki and Ka that celebrated men who have dedicated their lives to support, and mentor ambitions of their partners and other women.
