After Mumbai’s first ‘restaurant on wheels’ opened at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) station received a good response, the railways are now planning to open 10 more such restaurants across the state.

In Mumbai itself, two more 'Restaurant on Wheels' may soon open at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Kalyan.

A Central Railway official said that the response from people to the restaurant has been overwhelming. Some people wait and even pre-book for larger groups.

According to reports, on an average, nearly 500 people visit the restaurant every day. Out of them, 100 people line up outside the restaurant. As a result, CR plans to open eight more 'Restaurant on Wheels' at Neral, Igatpuri, Lonavla, Nagpur, Miraj, Chinchwad, Baramati and Akurdi stations in Maharashtra, officials said.

Moreover, it has come to light that about 10,000 people have visited the CSMT restaurant since its inauguration on October 18. The restaurant has 10 tables and can seat up to 40 people.

The 24x7-operational restaurant has been opened at the P’D Mello entrance of the terminus.
