Actor Govinda Ahuja on Thursday, March 28, joined Shiv Sena's Shinde faction. He joined the party in the presence of Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and there is talk that Govinda will get candidature from North West Mumbai Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. Thackeray faction has announced the candidature of Amol Kirtikar on this seat.

On Wednesday night, March 27, actor Govinda met former MLA and Shinde Krishna Hegde. Krishna Hegde said that Govinda wants to work at the national level.

After the induction, Govinda thanked Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He said that after 14 years of exile, he is now entering politics again.

Eknath Shinde was looking for a new face for this position as there was talk that Shinde faction MP Gajanan Kirtikar would not contest the elections due to his age. Now they have found a candidate in Govinda and it seems that Thackeray's Amol Kirtikar will face a tough competition.

Govinda's Political Stint:

Actor Govinda had contested the Lok Sabha elections from North Mumbai in 2004. At that time he had defeated Ram Naik of BJP. Seeing the popularity of Govinda, Congress had demolished the fort of BJP by giving him the ticket. Later Govinda left politics and once again turned to acting. But now once again he has entered politics.
