In an attempt to make inroads into Worli for the 2022 BMC polls, the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) has launched a web series titled ‘Penguin Games’ to highlight ‘real problems’ of the area, said sources on Monday, January 11. According to the party worker a new episode will be broadcast every fortnight on social media.
In the first episode that went live on Facebook the party exposed the poor water supply and sanitation issues in Prem Nagar in Worli. It looks like the local MLA and ruling party have forgotten the reality of Worli and are only focussing on cosmetic issues while the people are suffering with basic problems.
This series is released at a time when the Shiv Sena is promoting its Worli A+ campaign, where the street art, LED signals and street aesthetics are being given a push.
The series have received a very good response from residents of Prem Nagar who spoke out on the poor state of toilets. There are no doors on any of the public toilets, there is no water supply and residents are tired of complaining, said the party worker.
Recently, the BMC lit up the city’s first ‘aesthetic traffic signal’ at Worli Sea Face. At this traffic signal, the entire traffic signal pole, fitted with LED lights glows and changes colour along with the traffic signal, when it turns green, yellow and red. Over the last few weeks, Aaditya has been inaugurating several street installations and street sculpture exhibits across Worli.
Talking about these developments made by Sena, the MNS said, these are all just cosmetic changes that are being done for the elite residents. The real problems of Worli have gone from bad to worse, which will be exposed in this series.
While the Shiv Sena’s Aaditya Thackeray was elected an MLA from Worli in 2019, all seven corporators from the region are from the Shiv Sena too. The BJP and the Congress have little presence in the constituency.
