The names of the Bharat Ratna recipients on January 26 included politicians, social workers, artists, and ideologues. After Patanjali founder Baba Ramdev sparked a row over the same, All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday said that Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar was honoured with the Bharat Ratna out of compulsion.

While addressing a rally in Kalyan, ahead of the upcoming elections, Owaisi asked that how many Dalits and Muslims were given Bharat Ratna? The AIMIM leader said that Dr BR Ambedkar was given the nation’s highest civilian honour out of compulsion and not by heart.

Of all the Bharat Ratna recipients, tell me, how many were Dalits, Adivasis, Muslims, Poor, Upper Caste and Brahmins? BR Ambedkar was given the same out of compulsion and not by heart,” AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi asserted.

In a rally carried out by Bharip Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) chief Prakash Ambedkar and AIMIM chief Owaisi, they both took a dig at Shiv Sena, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and said that all those who were in power for 70 years have exploited Dalits and Muslims.
