Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday called up Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to enquire about the lynching of three people including two sadhus in Palghar. 

The Union Home Ministry has demanded a report on the whole Palghar ‘mob lynching’ incident which happened on Thursday night. CM Uddhav Thackeray briefed Amit Shah about the incident stating that the culprits have been arrested by the police. 

During his address today, Uddhav Thackeray informed that Amit Shah is aware that this is not a communal matter while stating that Maharashtra will not tolerate any communal incident. 

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray assured that the accused in the Palghar ‘mob lynching’ incident will not be spared at any cost while warning those who are communalising the issue. 

“Some people are trying to communalise the issue. Don't do it. This is not a conflict between two religious groups. This all happened due to a misunderstanding but still, we will take action against those involved in the killings of three men,” Uddhav Thackeray said during his address on social media. 

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah spoke to CM Uddhav Thackeray over the Palghar ‘mob lynching’ incident and asked for a report on the same. 

During his conversation with the Union Home Minister, Thackeray asked for the support of the home ministry to help investigate those who are trying to spread misinformation on social media regarding the Palghar incident. 

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has already announced a high-level inquiry into the Palghar incident while warning those who are creating communal divide over the issue. 

The Maharashtra Police has arrested 110 people in connection with the Palghar incident where the angry mob ‘lynched’ three people including two Sadhus and a driver. Of the 110 people arrested, 101 people have been sent police custody till April 30 while other 9 have been sent to a juvenile home. 

The three men who were killed have been identified as Sushil Giri Maharaj (35), Chikane Maharaj Kalpavrikshgiri (70) and Nilesh Telgane (35). They were travelling towards Surat to attend the funeral of common acquaintance and were killed by the mob on suspicion that they were child-kidnappers and organ harvesters. The incident happened in Gadchinchale village in Palghar district of Maharashtra.
