The Union Home Minister Amit Shah, on Sunday, February 7, inaugurated the SSPM Medical College at Kudal, in Sindhudurg, founded by a trust chaired by the former Chief Minister and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narayan Rane on Sunday.

Moreover, the inauguration assumes significance as it comes at a time when the tussle between Shiv Sena and BJP over the political control in the district is at its peak.

The multi-speciality hospital was inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar in 2017. Moreover, the medical college attached to it was inaugurated by Shah on Sunday.

On the other hand, the Union Home Minister recently lashed out at ex-ally Shiv Sena, refuting the party’s claim that the BJP had offered to share the CM post while addressing a rally in Sindhudurg. Shah further stated that Fadnavis had been announced as the CM face and Sena had campaigned for votes using PM Modi's posters during the Maharashtra polls.

Meanwhile, back in September, Devendra Fadnavis met with Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut at a luxury hotel in Mumbai. In addition, they held a 2-hour meeting which gave birth to conjecture around reconciliation. However, even though this meeting between the former allies had set political circle atwitter, BJP Maharashtra spokesperson Keshav Upadhye said Fadnavis met with Raut - Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana's executive editor for an interview for the said journal.
