With over 3 lakh Covid-19 cases and over 12,000 fatalities, Maharashtra continues to remain the worst-hit state in the country. The deadly virus has slowly managed to make its way into the politicians across the state. As per media reports, BJP Corporator Jagdish Ojha, from Dahisar's ward number 2, has tested positive for the coronavirus infection.  Ojha did not have any symptoms of the virus, but as a precautionary measure, he got himself tested and was diagnosed as COVID-19 positive. However, it has been reported that he is doing perfectly fine and has been working from home since the diagnosis.

Recently, Senior Congress Member and Mumbai's Guardian Leader Aslam Shaikh had also tested positive for the virus. On Monday, Shaikh took to social media to announce his test result and urged all his contacts to get tested as well. He has also been diagnosed as an asymptomatic case and is isolating himself at home. After Public Works Department Minister Ashok Chavan, Housing Minister Jitendra Awhad and Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde, Shaikh was the fourth minister in he state government to get infected with the virus.

In the past couple of weeks, Mumbai’s western suburban areas of Malad, Kandivali, Borivali and Dahisar have witnessed a sudden increase in the number of coronavirus cases. Following this observation, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started medical camps and fever clinics in these areas to control the number of infected patients. Along with these preventive measures, the BMC has also started using the 'smart helmets' in order to screen residents of the areas.
