Alibaug police on Wednesday arrested the Editor-in-Chief of Republic TV, Arnab Goswami, in connection with the suicide of interior designer Naik. As per reports, this has irked some Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders in the state who have become aggressive after his arrest and have reacted by slamming and attacking the state government. 

Sharing his angst, BJP state president Chandrakant Patil has said that Arnab Goswami has taken action only out of revenge. Besides this, a protest was organized in Nagpur, on Wednesday, November 4, 2020, under the leadership of Chandrakant Patil, against the arrest of Arnab.

Patil further alleged that Arnab Goswami, a well-known Indian journalist, could not be implicated as the case focused on an architect's suicide was closed in 2018, but was reopened out of revenge, eventually resulting to his arrest. Adding more, he said that the incident has strangled Indian democracy today, and as the BJP state president and a citizen of India, he strongly condemns it.

He appealed to the people of Maharashtra and his party workers to oppose the state government by protesting in their own way, be it by going on a hunger strike, showing non-cooperation in government work, raising voice on social media, taking out a protest morcha, or by any other means.
