Three-time MP Kirit Somaiya tests COVID-19 positive

Somaiya took to Twitter to inform that he and his wife have been tested positive for COVID-19 and are hospitalised. The treatment for the coronavirus has started.

Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya has been tested positive for the coronavirus. His wife Dr Medha Somaiya, who is a professor by profession, also tested positive for COVID-19. 

Somaiya took to Twitter to inform that he and his wife have been tested positive for COVID-19 and are hospitalised. The treatment for the coronavirus has started. 

“Me & My Wife Prof Dr Medha Somaiya are tested COVID Positive. Both r hospitalized, treatment started,” Somaiya tweeted. 

Earlier, former President Pranab Mukherjee was also tested positive for the coronavirus. Some of the union cabinet ministers have also been tested for COVID-19. Amit Shah, Union Home Minister, also tested positive for the deadly virus ahead of the Ram Mandir ‘bhoomi pujan’. He was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Gurgaon and recovered recently. 

Union Minister of State (MoS) Arjun Singh Meghwal has also tested positive. He is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Hospital. In Maharashtra, Independent MP Navneet Kaur Rana and her husband Ravi Rana had tested positive for the coronavirus. 

Navneet Kaur is an independent MP from Amravati and her husband is a three-time MLA representing the Badnera assembly constituency. Until now, six cabinet ministers in the Uddhav Thackeray government have been tested including two junior ministers. 

Three of the cabinet minister in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government including Jitendra Awhad, Ashok Chavan and Dhananjay Munde recovered and have taken charge of their ministerial work.
