Uddhav Thackeray-led Maha Vikas Aghadi expanded its cabinet on Monday. In  this, they have included 13 members from Shiv-Sena and NCP each and 10 from Congress. There also seems to be a balance of young and experienced people in this cabinet.

However, just a day after the cabinet expansion Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Krit Somaya has questioned Uddhav Thackeray on the inclusion of Aslam Shaikh. He has posted a video on Twitter and asked Uddhav Thackeray on why he has included Shaikh and even questioned whether Shaikh is an anti-national.

In addition to this, an old letter of Aslam Shaikh.seeking clemency for 1993 Mumbai serial blasts convict Yakub Memon has gone viral on social media.

Shaikh, on the other hand, is blaming the BJP for this. Shaikh alleges that since the saffron party failed to retain power in the state, it was misleading people on various issues. Shaikh was one of the leaders from Maharashtra who sought clemency for Memon in 2015.

Aslam Shaikh is an active member from Congress from Mumbai. This is the third time that he has contested election.

This is not the first time, Somaiya has questioned the intention of the current state government. Earlier in the month, he had written a letter to Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari expressing his fear of being “physically attacked by Shiv Sena workers”.

The former BJP MP claimed that he fears a physical assault by Sena workers with a Shiv Sena-led government ruling in Maharashtra.

Along with the Governor, Somiaya expressed his concerns to Home Secretary Sanjay Kumar, Mumbai Police commissioner Sanjay Barve and Leader of Opposition (LoP) in Maharashtra Legislative assembly, Devendra Fadnavis.
