On Tuesday, November 24, Pravin Darekar, Maharashtra Council Leader of the Opposition, claimed that the action taken by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) had nothing to do with politics.

This comes after the house and workplace of Shiv Sena MLA Pratap Sarnaik was raided in Thane on Tuesday. Sarnaik happens to be the MLA from the Ovala-Majiwada Vidhan Sabha constituency in Thane. He is also Shiv Sena's Maharashtra Spokesperson and the Communication Leader for the Mira-Bhayandar area. Sarnaik was in the news earlier after he demanded that Kangana Ranaut be booked for sedition for comparing Mumbai to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Moreover, he had stated that the actor "maligned" the image of Maharashtra and Mumbai through her tweets. As a result, this has given birth to speculations over the ED raiding Sarnaik's house.

Moreover, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut, outraged by the ED's action, levelled many allegations against the BJP. As Pratap Saranaik had recently filed cases against Arnab Goswami, Kangana Ranaut and Anvay Naik, Raut further claimed that the ED acted out as a result of political vendetta. Furthermore, he stated that Sarnaik's properties were raided while the latter was not at home, and added that no matter how many notices are issued, only truth shall prevail in Maharashtra.

In recent developments, the MLA's son Vihang Sarnaik was also taken to ED office and was interrogated for five hours. As per reports, the ED acted on a tipoff from the IT department through which a case under Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) was registered. According to the ED sources, the seizure of electronic evidence includes computer and Vihang Sarnaik's cell phone.
