In yet another political setback for Maharashtra, the Tata-Airbus C-295 transport aircraft project has been dropped out and went to the neighbouring state Gujarat.

Soon after the Centre’s announcement, the opposition left no stones unturned to attack the Eknath Shinde-led government, which is in coalition with the BJP, in the state. Moreover, the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) also demanded resignation from Industry Minister Uday Samant and CM.

It is pertinent to note that this came months after the Vedanta-Foxconn project made an exit from Maharashtra's project pocket.

Former Maharashtra minister Aaditya Thackeray on Thursday accused the Shinde government of not being serious about the state’s progress and criticised it for “failing to protect the state’s interests”.

“Another project! I have voiced this since July, asking Khoke Sarkar to try for it (Tata Airbus). I wonder why every project is going to other states in the last 3 months. Loss of faith in khoke sarkar is evident on industry level. Will the industry minister resign after losing 4 projects?” MLA Aaditya Thackeray tweeted.

Moreover, while speaking to media at Shirur tehsil in Pune district, Aaditya asked, “Will the state government give answers to why these projects are going out? This is the fourth project that has gone away from Maharashtra since the traitor government has come to power. They always boast that they have a double-engine government, but although one engine of the central government is working, the state government’s engine has failed.”

Blaming Shinde for “bowing in front of his political masters (BJP)”, NCP chief spokesperson claimed that the party has appointed Shinde as Chief Minister only to transfer mega projects from Maharashtra to Gujarat.

Taking it to Twitter, he shared: “After Vedanta-Foxconn, now Tata-Airbus project has gone to Gujarat due to the sheer incompetence of Eknath Shinde, as he repeatedly fails to retain investment and projects in Maharashtra.”

Eknath Shinde is busy safeguarding his post of the chief minister even as Gujarat continues its surgical strike on Maharashtra. Shinde clearly said that the Tata-Airbus project will come up in Nagpur. Today, his lie stands exposed,” he added.

Earlier, in September this year, Shinde loyalist Samant had said that the Tata-Airbus aircraft manufacturing project would come up near Nagpur in Vidarbha.

On the other hand, Samant blamed previous MVA government stating that the project had gone to Gujarat a year ago and the earlier government did not make any effort to bring it back.

“Shinde government was trying to making an attempt to bring it here. Hence, I had said once that we are trying to bring that project to Maharashtra,” he reiterated.
