CAA, NRC, NPR more dangerous than coronavirus: NCP MLA Prakash Gajbhiye

Amid the ongoing protests against the new citizenship law, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA Prakash Gajbhiye compared the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR) to the coronavirus. 

The NCP leader said that the CAA, NRC and NPR are more dangerous than coronavirus. The people have been protesting across the country while opposing the “discriminatory law” and the proposed NRC and the NPR.

The environment of the country has been disrupted due to the CAA, NRC and NPR. This country belongs to the Hindu, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and all other religions. This is why I think that this is dangerous than coronavirus," NCP MLA Prakash Gajbhiye.

On Friday, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had met Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In the meeting, CM Thackeray informed that the issue of CAA, NPR and NRC was discussed with Modi and reiterated that the CAA and NPR will not cause trouble for anyone. 

Amid the tension between Congress, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena in the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government over the implementation of the NPR process, CM Uddhav Thackeray on Friday also met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. 

On Saturday, Uddhav Thackeray constituted a high-power committee comprising members from all three ruling parties would study it before making any decision of the implementation of the NPR.

The Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Maharashtra have maintained their strong objection to the CAA, NRC and NPR. However, Shiv Sena shares a different view.

Earlier, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had said that he will not block the implementation of the NPR process. The CAA, NPR will not a problem to anyone, CM Thackeray added. However, Thackeray had informed that the NRC will not be implemented.
