During the 24th Foundation Day event of the Nationalist Congress Party, Bhujbal emphasized the need for an OBC representative at the helm. He highlighted the capabilities of OBC leaders within the party, including Sunil Tatkare, Jitendra Awhad, and Dhananjay Munde.
Bhujbal's Vision for OBC Representation in Maharashtra
He stressed the importance of OBC representation within the political landscape of Maharashtra. With the party's organizational elections already underway, Bhujbal encouraged interested individuals to vie for leadership roles within the state unit. He firmly believed that appointing an OBC leader as the Maharashtra NCP president would bridge the gap between the party and the OBC community, which constitutes a significant 54% of the state's population. Notably, Bhujbal himself served as the first president of the NCP in Maharashtra when it was established in 1999.
