 As the chief guest at the commemorative program held at Delhi's Constitution Club, Bhujbal is poised to address crucial topics relating to OBC communities. He will shed light on matters concerning the Mandal Commission, OBC quotas, and the significance of caste-based census. Distinguished personalities from OBC communities across India, including JDU MP Giridhari Yadav, CPI leader D Raja, DMK MP P Wilson, OBC ideologue Prof Kancha Iliah, BSP MP Kunbar Danish Ali, and former JNU VC Dr. Shefalika Shekhar, are expected to attend the event, which is titled "Legacy of Social Justice" and organized by 'Truth Seekers International.'

Seizing the opportunity presented by senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar's desire to step down as the Leader of Opposition in the Maharashtra Assembly, Chhagan Bhujbal advocated for the appointment of an OBC leader as the state unit chief. During the 24th Foundation Day event of the Nationalist Congress Party, Bhujbal emphasized the need for an OBC representative at the helm. He highlighted the capabilities of OBC leaders within the party, including Sunil Tatkare, Jitendra Awhad, and Dhananjay Munde.

Bhujbal's Vision for OBC Representation in Maharashtra

He stressed the importance of OBC representation within the political landscape of Maharashtra. With the party's organizational elections already underway, Bhujbal encouraged interested individuals to vie for leadership roles within the state unit. He firmly believed that appointing an OBC leader as the Maharashtra NCP president would bridge the gap between the party and the OBC community, which constitutes a significant 54% of the state's population. Notably, Bhujbal himself served as the first president of the NCP in Maharashtra when it was established in 1999.
