The dispute over the Mumbai seat-sharing arrangement in the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) has turned into an internal fight between the Mumbai and Maharashtra units of the Congress party.

According to Mumbai Congress sources, the unit has complained against state Congress chief Nana Patole for ignoring the party's interests in seat-sharing talks. Of the six seats in the Mumbai region, Congress will contest from two seats - Mumbai North Central and Mumbai North. However, Mumbai Congress chief Varsha Gaikwad refused to criticise any party leader.

However, Varsha Gaikwad says that the leaders involved in seat sharing talks should have been more aggressive for Mumbai. A delegation of Mumbai Congress is likely to meet the party high command in Delhi on Friday and make possible demands.

He claimed that although the party has faced some setbacks in recent times, the organisation at the grassroots level stands strong. Varsha Gaikwad says, “Our leaders should have given more emphasis on Mumbai seat-sharing, however, we all agree with the decision our party has taken. But we will make the high command aware of the reality."
