The Maharashtra Congress strongly criticised Milind Deora over his social media remarks suggesting that senior Congress leaders did not attend the funeral of legendary singer Asha Bhosle, calling his claim misleading and politically motivated.
The party clarified that several senior leaders, including Sushilkumar Shinde, Naseem Khan and Praniti Shinde, were present at the funeral to pay their respects, and said Deora’s statement wrongly created an impression of absence and disrespect.
Congress leaders further alleged that Deora selectively framed the narrative to target his former party after his political shift, terming his remarks as “ingratitude” given his long association with the Congress.
The party also accused him of using a sensitive and solemn occasion for political messaging and gaining attention within his current political alignment, stating that such comments distorted facts and unnecessarily politicised a moment of mourning.
