Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam has extended his support to the Narendra Modi government over the decision to ban 59 Chinese applications in the backdrop of Indo-China border tension saying that the decision to ban these apps was right.

However, Nirupam expressed concern over million getting unemployed due to the ban on TikTok app. While crediting the talent of TikTokers, he said that the move to ban the app will refuse the cheapest, pure and homely entertainment of the present times.

“The decision to ban Chinese apps is right. However, with the ban on TikTok, millions of youth in our country will be unemployed. We will be deprived of the cheapest, pure and homely entertainment of the current times. The sudden end of TikTok and its stars is tragic. A humble tribute to their immense talent,” Nirupam tweeted in Hindi.

Nirupam’s remarks come as the Congress is questioning the Modi government ruthlessly over the border tension issue. Earlier, Senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan cornered the central government over its decision to ban Chinese apps. Chavan demanded the ban on NaMo app alleging that it violates the privacy of Indians.

The government passed the interim order on Monday stating that these apps were damaging to the sovereignty, integrity and security of India. The government has raised concerns over the safety of privacy of users in the country.

The move to ban 59 Chinese Apps comes in the backdrop of the Indo-China border tensions at the Galwan Valley in Ladakh. Although the Prime Minister has said that there has been no intrusion in Indian soil, but 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred in violent clashes with the Chinese troops.
