Senior Congress leaders Ashok Chavan and Balasaheb Thorat have admitted that there are some issues in the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government and have sought meeting with Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray to resolve it.

Earlier, Thorat had expressed that Congress ministers should be involved in the decision-making process. The MVA government has three-alliance partners and issues must be discussed among them, he said while adding that they will take this up with the Chief Minister.

It has been learned that Congress leadership in Maharashtra is not happy with the Uddhav Thackeray government taking a decision without consulting them. Some have even alleged that Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar and Thackeray are taking a decision without taking Congress ministers into confidence.

Chavan had also expressed that they seek a meeting with the Chief Minister to sort these issues. Congress has been feeling left out in the decision-making process, among other issues. It also intends to discuss problems related to the bureaucracy and the distribution of legislative council seats.

The Congress leaders have met multiple times in the past few days to discuss various issues bothering the minister within the party.

Reacting to this, Shiv Sena attacked the Congress leaders and said that these heavyweights should remember that Thackeray was elected as the Chief Minister and his decision is final in all matters. Pawar and his leaders are not squeaking like Congress, it added.

In an editorial published in ‘Saamana’, the Shiv Sena compared Congress with an old cot that yawps ever now and then while accusing it of creating an atmosphere of instability amid the fight against coronavirus.

Replying to this, Thorat said that they intended to meet the Chief Minister to discuss issues related to people and not bureaucracy. "Saamana should write another editorial," he said while adding that Shiv Sena published the editorial with incomplete information.
