Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Maharashtra Minority Affairs Minister, Nawab Malik on Tuesday attacked Rajnath Singh over his remarks against the Maharashtra government for its handling of COVID-19 situation.

Reacting to the Union Minister's remarks, Malik said that the “democratic” Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) was doing good work and taunted that the central government was being run by a "ringmaster".

“Maharashtra government is doing a good job in the fight against COVID-19. ICMR has also praised the state government here. Union Minister Rajnath Singh is still designating the government in Maharashtra as a circus,” Malik said.

Malik further said that the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader is speaking from experience when he compares Maharashtra government to a circus as "he himself is working under a ringmaster".

While addressing the BJP workers in a virtual ‘Jan Samvad’ rally, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that the Maharashtra government doesn’t have any vision for development and it was struggling despite being under the leadership of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar.

“The Maharashtra government is a three-party government. But it seems like there is a circus instead of the government. The Maharashtra government lacks vision for development and is directionless. It is unfortunate to see the state struggling despite a strong leadership of NCP chief Sharad Pawar,” Singh said.

Singh also jumped in to defend Bollywood Actor Sonu Sood and slammed Shiv Sena for its remarks against the actor. He criticised the Sena for its remarks against Sood and said that the actor deserved credit and not criticism for helping the stranded migrants.

“Instead of appreciating the good work done by Sonu Sood to help the stranded migrants reach their respective homes, the Maharashtra government was critiquing him,” Singh said.
