Every year, Shiv Sena's Dussehra rally is conducted on a large scale; however, due to the COVID-19 outbreak last year, Shiv Sena had conducted its annual Dusshera rally online. A few days back, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut had said that the Dussehra rally would happen offline, unlike last year. Dussehra falls on October 15, Friday this year.

The location for the rally wasn't decided, and it was likely that it will be held at Shivaji Park in Dadar. Now, according to the Times of India, Shiv Sena is likely to hold its Dusshera rally at Shanmukhanand Hall at Sion with 50% capacity.

Raut had earlier said that the final decision will be made by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, who was of the same view to hold the rally offline. However, Thackeray has avoided a mega gathering keeping the COVID-19 norms in mind.

While addressing the media about the situation, a senior Shiv Sena functionary has said that the party will write to the police and other concerned authorities on Monday, October 11. The rally will likely be held at Shanmukhanand Hall at Sion with 50% capacity with all top leaders present in the hall, and the rally will be streamed online, he added.

The state is experiencing a decline in COVID-19 cases and is unlocking restrictions in a phase-wise manner. The schools have already resumed their physical classes since October 4, while the cinema halls across the state will reopen on October 22.
