With the resignation of Uddhav Thackeray, it seems like BJP is all set to stake claims for the formation of a new government in Maharashtra.

Amid this ongoing political turmoil in the state, rumours are rife that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis can take oath as the Chief Minister on July 1. However, there is no official confirmation regarding this yet.

The state BJP chief Chandrakant Patil said that Devendra Fadnavis and rebel Sena leader Eknath Shinde will decide the next course of action.

Devendra Fadnavis interacted with all the MLAs at a meeting of BJP Maharashtra and independent MLAs in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, reports are doing round that BJP is celebrating Thackeray’s resignation. Asking for restraint in celebrations, Chandrakant Patil said that the party (BJP) workers must not celebrate Uddhav Thackeray's resignation, instead they should celebrate when Devendra Fadnavis becomes the Chief Minister.

Moreover, talking about the formation of the new government in Maharashtra, Patil said, the date of staking claim and swearing-in will be decided by Devendra Fadnavis in consultation with senior leaders in Delhi.

The ruling Maharashtra government collapsed after Uddhav Thackeray resigned on Wednesday night, June 29, following the Supreme Court's decision that it will not be staying the floor test slated to be held on Thursday.

This political drama took place after Eknath Shinde disappeared and was not reachable since the midnight of Legislative elections.
