Maharashtra Leader of Opposition, Devendra Fadnavis, attacked the state chief minister, Uddhav Thackeray by reportedly mentioning that the BJP has risen to rid Mumbai and the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) of the mafia and lotters, and return it to the true Hindutvawadi.

Fadnavis was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the ruling party believes that they are the only ones in the state. Therefore they think that their insult is the state's insult and their honour is the state's honour.

Commenting on the highly debated loudspeaker row in Maharashtra, he alleged that the government does not have the courage to take down loudspeakers but claimed that they were there to bring down the dome of Babri Masjid, cited narratives.

The leader of the opposition further uttered that no Shiv Sena leader was present when the dome was brought down. He then changed course by highlighting the corruption in the BMC by voicing that BMC elections are crucial since the BJP wants to fight for Mumbaikar's rights.

He then remarked that while they had given Mumbai to the Shiv Sena because they believed in Balasaheb Thackeray, but they don't hold the same belief to the present party. Fadnavis then exclaimed that the elections are a fight for the city's freedom and they wish to rid the city of mafia and lotters.

The BJP leader added that the CM has assisted Mumbai's builders by curtailing stamp duty and premiums. He further alleged that Thackeray has reduced the license fee for bar owners, tax on foreign liquor by 50 per cent but did not reduce the tax on fuel.

Thus, Fadnavis alleges that the government is for builders, bar owners, and drunkards, but not for citizens. These comments come at the rally the BJP held on the occasion of Maharashtra Day on Sunday, May 1. Herein, he also declared that he will conduct a "Pol Khol" rally on May 14.
