According to the latest reports, on Tuesday, April 19, BJP leader Praveen Darekar flagged off the "pol khol" campaign in an attempt to make the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections free of corruption and fair.

Darekar was quoted in accounts elaborating on how the Shiv Sena does corruption through the municipality. He added while inaugurating the van that problems like garbage on roads, potholes as well as drinking water problems continue to persist.

Following the flagging of the campaign, narratives began doing the rounds that the van was stone pelted. Based on reports, the Mumbai Police identified four people in connection with the pelting in Chembur on Tuesday.

The police reportedly remarked that the search for the accused is ongoing. It has been reported that the incident wherein the campaign bus was attacked by unidentified individuals on Tuesday happened at around 11 am.

As part of the campaign 40 buses were slated to be used wherein a screen mounted on a mobile van would show speeches of BJP MLAs on the alleged corruption in the BMC.

In the aftermath of the supposed attack, Darekar while interacting with the media mentioned that he thinks Shiv Sena party workers were involved in the bus breaking incident. He asked the police to immediately identify and arrest them. If they are not arrested on priority, Darekar has threatened to protest.
