After Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) took a stand against the plastic ban, Shiv Sena leader and Maharashtra Environment Minister, Ramdas Kadam targeted MNS Chief Raj Thackeray and said that the decision to ban plastic has not been taken overnight.

Raj Thackeray is opposing the decision because it has been announced by Yuva Sena Chief Aditya Thackeray according to Kadam and he raised a question, “Why is he (Raj Thackeray) afraid of his nephew (Aditya Thackeray)?”

While addressing the media, the Environment Minister informed that sufficient time was given for the plastic ban and a three months extension as per the court orders. However, until now it was not being implemented due to lack of political will. Every other party has welcomed this decision except MNS, said Kadam.

Slamming the MNS chief, Kadam said that Raj Thackeray’s party says that if they are fined for using plastic bags, they will protest against the same. However, no one will be spared if they break the law, he asserted.

Earlier in the proposal, the fine was stated from ₹200 to ₹300. However, the fine was restructured from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 keeping in mind that it should affect a person violating the law, said Kadam while comparing India to foreign nations in this regard.

We don’t oppose the plastic ban, Ramdas Kadam should read our hoardings. He is helpless in front of his own fellow leaders and he shouldn’t drag us in this matter,” Reacting to Kadam’s remarks, MNS Secretary Sandeep Deshpande.
