Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray on Thursday conducted a meeting with his party’s newly-elected MLAs. In the meeting, the legislators passed a resolution authorising Thackeray to take a final call in the matter of government formation.

The Sena MLAs stood firm on the demand to have a rotational CM. After the meeting, the legislators were shifted to Rangsharda Hotel which is close to Uddhav Thackeray’s residence in Bandra.

The MLAs have been shifted as the tussle between Sena and BJP has intensified. Earlier, Shiv Sena had accused its ally BJP of poaching MLAs and using “money power” to break the deadlock over government formation.

Shiv Sena MLA Sunil Prabhu informed that it is necessary for all the MLAs to stay together in this situation. The decision that Uddhav Thackeray makes will be binding to all the Shiv Sena legislators, added Prabhu.

Since the declaration of assembly election results in Maharashtra on October 24, Shiv Sena has been adamant on its demands to implement the 50-50 power-sharing deal which was finalised before the Lok Sabha elections this year.

However, BJP remains silent on the issue and refuses to support the demands made by Shiv Sena while maintaining that the CM will be from their party.

On the contrary, Shiv Sena has asserted that the people of Maharashtra want a CM their party. Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray had earlier stated that BJP must honour the 50-50 formula.
