Shiv Sena on Tuesday cornered the Narendra Modi government over the issue of Indo-China border tension and said that the central government should focus on replying to China for infiltrating instead of responding to Congress.

In an editorial published in ‘Saamana’, Shiv Sena said that the war of words between Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Congress over the border clashes was at a time when China is building its army on the border. People are fed up with this war of words, it added.

Nearly 20 Indian Army soldiers were martyred in the violent clashes with China’s People’s Liberation Army (PLA) in the Galwan Valley on June 15.

The Shiv Sena suggested the centre to fight China and not the opposition parties. “The government should focus on coronavirus crisis and border crisis instead of the opposition parties,” the editorial read.

Earlier, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that India its battles against COVID-19 and the border crisis under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

Taking a cue from the request of a Congress MLA from Rajasthan who has demanded the removal of mobile caller tune which says that one needs to fight coronavirus pandemic and not the patients, Shiv Sena said that a caller tune should be started in Delhi that there was a need to fight China and not political opponents here.

Sena also slammed the central government for blaming Nehru over the 1962 war. It said that the BJP should forget the past and tackle the ongoing crisis. “China will never change. Whether it is Pandit Nehru or PM Modi, China will remain adamant,” it said.
