“I started my political career on May 1, 1960. Yesterday we celebrated May day. After this prolonged political career, one must think about stopping somewhere. One must not be greedy.”
After Pawar's announcement of retirement, activists cried profusely. NCP leader Dhananjay Munde got emotional and touched Sharad Pawar's feet. Also, NCP leader Praful Patel said that Sharad Pawar did not take anyone into confidence before announcing resignation.

Sharad Pawar is not the president does not mean that he will not be in the party
NCP leader Ajit Pawar said that Sharad Pawar has heard and seen everyone's feelings. "You are misunderstanding. Sharad Pawar is not the president, it does not mean that he will not be in the party. Today, Kharge is the president of Congress, but Congress is run by Sonia Gandhi.
