In an electoral battle from Mumbai North Lok Sabha constituency, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Gopal Shetty won against Congress’ star candidate Urmila Matondkar by a margin of 4.6 lakh votes. Accepting the defeat, Matondkar said that she will continue her political career with Congress. 

While congratulating her counterpart Gopal Shetty along with the incumbent Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Urmila Matondkar said that winning and losing is part of politics but she did not enter politics to only contest in Lok Sabha elections. 

Speaking to the media during the vote count, the Congress candidate said that she respects the people's mandate and will continue her political journey with Congress.

Along with the congratulatory remarks, Urmila Matondkar took to Twitter to question the reliability of the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and informed that a complaint has been registered with the Election Commission.
