On Friday, February 25, the Income Tax Department conducted searches at Shiv Sena corporator and Standing Committee Chairperson of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) Yashwant Jadhav's premises, stated reports.
Based on accounts, a team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) also arrived at Jadhav's residence in Mumbai. Additionally, the Income Tax dept conducted a raid at his second residence in Mumbai.

As the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the BMC, Jadhav is involved in financial decisions. The Standing Committee also plays an important role in municipal contracts and other crucial matters. Jadhav's wife is the party MLA from the Byculla seat.
Shiv Sena has been ruling the civic body for more than two decades and the BMC elections are slated to be held in a few months.
In the aftermath of this incident, Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar while interacting with the media stated that the entire Mumbai and Maharashtra is watching this. She added that they can do whatever they want to win elections. Pednekar remarked that they believe in the constitution, law and order.
The mayor wants to the truth come out and an enquiry to happen. She told the media that she arrived near Jadhav's residence to see that no worker of the political party does anything inappropriate.
Pednekar believes that this is the politics of revenge and on being asked about reports of more such names that could come out she challenged them to do so.
