Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) candidate Sanjay Dina Patil is the lone candidate from the party to contest Mumbai Lok Sabha Election from city’s North-East constituency. In the year 2009, Sanjay Patil was elected as the member of Parliament in the 15th Lok Sabha from the same constituency where he defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Kirit Somaiya.
Patil resides in Bhandup East in Mumbai with his family of two children and a wife. Sanjay Patil’s father, Dina Bama Patil, was a famous union leader and his mother Manorama Patil was Municipal Councillor for seven terms. Patil pursued his undergraduate in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from Mumbai University.
As per the affidavit filed, Patil’s assets have increased by 31 per cent. Earlier in 2014, the NCP leader’s assets were registered for worth ₹1.99 crore which has increased to ₹2.60 crore in the year 2019.
Earlier in 2009, the NCP and Congress alliance fielded Sanjay Patil from the North-East LS constituency in Mumbai and Patil was elected as an MP. However, in the 2014 general elections, BJP leader Kirit Somiaya won from the same constituency.
After Somaiya was not named to contest LS poll this time, BJP has decided to field Manoj Kotak against Patil. With Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) backing the NCP-Congress alliance in the state, the chances of Patil winning the poll may have increased.
