Winter session of Maharashtra Legislature begins today

A unianimous decision to conduct the discussions, between December 19 to December 30, was taken at the meeting organised by the Advisory Committee of the Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Affairs respectively.

The winter session of the Maharashtra Legislature commences today, Monday, December 19, 2022, at Vidhan Bhawan, Nagpur. As per reports, the decision to hold the Maharashtra Vidhanmandal monsoon sessions has been taken until December 30, 2022, and a meeting was recently held in the presence of Legislative Assembly and Legislative Council Affairs' Advisory Committee.

It is pertinent to note that this is the first winter session after the newly-formed BJP and Eknath Shinde-led government came to power.

On this occasion, the tentative calendar of the meetings was planned and discussions were held regarding other aspects of the meeting. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will also be sharing a proposal on the border issue in this session. Besides this, implementation of a special program on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Marathwada Liberation Day was also discussed. Officials informed that a total of 21 bills will be presented in the House for discussion and approval will also be sought in this session, in the presence of concerned leaders and bodies. Meanwhile, authorities are planning detailed discussions on the functioning of both the houses.

Preliminary meetings of the Legislative Council Business Advisory Committee were chaired by Chairman Rahul Narvekar and Deputy Speaker Dr. Neelam Gorhe, at Vidhan Bhawan, Mumbai. These meetings were attended by Deputy Chairman Narhari Jirwal, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Revenue Minister Radhakrishna Vikhe Patil, Cultural Affairs Minister Sudhir Mungantiwar, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Chandrakant Patil, Port Development Minister Dadaji Bhuse, Leader of the Opposition. Legislative Assembly Ajit Pawar, Leader of Opposition in the Legislative Council Ambadas Danve, Members of the Legislative Council and Advisory Committee on Legislative Affairs, Principal Secretary Legislative Secretariat Rajendra Bhagwat and other dignitaries were present.
