The Shiv Sena (UB) party proved the significance of Uddhav Thackeray in Mumbai by winning three seats. Congress, BJP and Shinde group got one seat each. Mahayuti maintained its dominance by winning three out of four seats in Thane. Mahayuti has won four out of six seats in Mumbai. Shiv Sena's Shinde faction's Ravindra Waikar won by just 48 votes from the North West Mumbai electorate. With the Mahavikas Aghadi winning four of the six seats, Mumbai's tradition of voting for an Aghadi has continued. Mahayuti has won three out of four seats in Thane.
Arvind Sawant of the Shiv Sena Thackeray group retained the seat as expected in South Mumbai. Anil Desai of the Shiv Sena Thackeray group unexpectedly won from the South Central Mumbai constituency. Desai defeated Shiv Sena Shinde faction's Rahul Shewale by 53 thousand votes. Shiv Sena Thackeray's Sanjay Dina Patil defeated BJP's Mihir Kotecha by 30,000 votes in northeast Mumbai, which has been marred by Mumbai-Marathi-Gujarati controversy and religious polarisation. BJP's Piyush Goyal won from North Mumbai by a record 3 lakh 57 thousand votes. Mumbai Congress President Varsha Gaikwad defeated BJP Adv Ujjwal Nikam by 16,154 votes in the North Central Mumbai constituency.
Mahayuti maintained its dominance by winning three out of four seats in Thane and Palghar districts. Shiv Sena won both the Thane and Kalyan seats, which are prestigious for Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. BJP won the Palghar seat comfortably. Bahujan Vikas Aghadi MLA Hitendra Thakur's couldn’t make it in Palghar. In Bhiwandi, BJP was hit by internal squabbles and Union Minister of State Kapil Patil was defeated. Patil was hit by the resentment and the non-cooperative stance taken by the party leaders.
This result will be beneficial for the Shiv Sena Thackeray group for the upcoming Mumbai municipal elections. After the split in the Shiv Sena, a picture was painted that the Uddhav Thackeray group had ceased to exist in Mumbai. After the BJP withdrew in the Andheri by-election, Thackeray established dominance in the Lok Sabha elections. BJP, which is determined to win the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation, has suffered a major blow. If the Maha Vikas Aghadi fights together in the municipal elections, it will be a big challenge for the Mahayuti in Mumbai.
