What did Jitendra Awhad say?

Jitendra Awhad had said, "Ram was not a vegetarian, he was a non-vegetarian. How can Ram, who lived in exile for 14 years, be a vegetarian?" Rice did not exist during the time of Lord Rama, so what were they eating? Ram was a Kshatriya and the food of Kshatriyas was non-vegetarian. If anyone calls my statement controversial then can someone tell me whether Ram ate leafy vegetables? 80 percent of the people in this country are non-vegetarian, they are also Ram devotees."
