Maharashtra Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Convener Brigader Sudhir Sawant on Tuesday resigned from his post ahead of the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections and the same was accepted was by the party. 

AAP Maharashtra observer Durgesh Pathak informed that the Aam Aadmi Party has accepted Sudhir Sawant’s resignation.

Pathak, who is also a member of AAP’s Political Affairs Committee (PAC), in a statement, said, “This is to inform all the Political Affairs Committee (PAC) members that AAP has accepted Sudhir Sawant’s resignation as party’s Maharashtra unit Convener.”

However, sources informed that Sawant was sacked from his position ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls as he had failed to construct and strengthen party base in the state.

This comes shortly after AAP officially announced that it will be contesting in the upcoming assembly elections in Maharashtra.
