After BJP’s claim to form a stable government, senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan said that the party would prevent a possible “Operation lotus” in Maharashtra. Chavan asserted that Congress was on alert to prevent such a situation.

Operation Lotus started Karnataka where BJP was allegedly indulged in horse-trading of the MLAs from other parties to come to power.

While talking to the media, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan alleged that BJP was trying to stop Shiv Sena from joining hands with Congress and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) alliance.

Chavan’s remarks come after BJP leader Narayan Rane on Tuesday said that the party has asked him to help provide a stable government in Maharashtra.

Earlier on Tuesday, Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis stated that the President’s rule in the state is unfortunate and a stable government will soon be formed in Maharashtra.

The newly-elected Congress MLAs reached Mumbai today. The Congress legislators were in Jaipur at a luxury resort since Friday amid the deadlock in Maharashtra over government formation. Congress had shifted its MLAs fearing the horse-trading.

Maharashtra Congress President Balasaheb Thorat asked the newly elected party MLAs to visit farmers who were affected by the untimely rains in the state and ensure that they receive financial aid.

While speaking about the power-sharing, Prithiviraj Chavan said that the first priority is to work out a common minimum programme (CMP) to form a stable government in Maharashtra.

The talks of government formation between the three parties will only happen after top leaders approve a CMP. We will meet Shiv Sena leadership in a day or two,” said Chavan.
