Maharashtra becomes the first state to promote green hydrogen, said Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. He made this statement after signing Green Hydrogen Policy MoUs with seven companies on Monday, January 29.

“This is a big achievement. Ours is the first state to promote Green Hydrogen. In this investment of worth INR 2.76 lakh crore is being made. Seven big companies are working on it. It is a flexible & liberal policy. 60,000-70,000 people will get employment through it,” Shinde exclaimed.

He further said that this was the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis has also attended several meetings. ArcelorMittal and Nippon has signed MOUs worth an investment of 40,000 crores today. More than 20,000 people will get jobs. Maharashtra is industrial-friendly state. When I went to Davos, MOUs worth 3.53 lakh crores were signed," the CM said.

Besides, NTPC Green Energy Limited (NGEL) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Govt of Maharashtra for development of Green Hydrogen and derivatives (Green Ammonia, Green Methanol) of up to 1 million Ton capacity per annum, including Pump Hydro Projects of 2 GW and development of RE projects with or without storage up to 5 GW in the state.

The above MoU has been signed as a part of Green Investment Plan of Government of Maharashtra in the next five years and envisages a potential investment of approximately ₹80, 000 crores.

Shinde further added that there is connectivity available in the state. Skilled manpower is available and land is also available. Policies are also friendly. Maharashtra is becoming the most favourite destination for industries. Single-window clearance and subsidy will be available for the investors.
