Where in Maharashtra politics, a discussion is on about the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party and the leader of the opposition Ajit Pawar of joining BJP, the latter wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and made a big demand regarding the death in the 'Maharashtra Bhushan' award ceremony in Kharghar.

“The incident in Kharghar is not natural but man-made. It is entirely the responsibility of the government. Therefore, a case of murder should be registered against the government and INR 20 lakh should be given to the kin of the deceased and INR 5 lakh for the treatment of the affected," demanded Ajit Pawar.

Millions of followers were in the sun for 7 hours

A ceremony was organised to honour Padma Shri Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari with the 'Maharashtra Bhushan' award and it was held on April 16 2023 at Kharghar (Navi Mumbai). About 20 lakh followers from across the state attended the event. Many followers suffered from heat stroke during the ceremony. Millions of followers were in the sun for 7 hours. Many felt dizzy, many suffered from vomiting. 11 innocent followers lost their lives in this unfortunate incident. On the day of the incident, I myself visited M.G.M hospital in Navi Mumbai and met the patients and doctors. The cries of the relatives of the deceased in this accident were mind-numbing," said Ajit Pawar.

Innocent followers were lured

Ajit Pawar added, “The temperature in the state has been between 40 and 42 degrees Celsius for the past few days. There is a huge heatwave. Dr. Appasaheb Dharmadhikari has millions of followers in Maharashtra. Naturally, it was necessary to realise that millions of followers would attend such a ceremony. Today, common people feel that the government has done the job of playing with the lives of innocent followers by organising such a big event, in the open ground, in the afternoon. The mishap could have been avoided by holding the program in an enclosed auditorium and telecasting it live during the heatwave. However, in an attempt to show off something grandiose, innocent followers were lured where 11 followers got killed.”

This unfortunate incident is not a natural disaster but a man-made disaster

“This program was organised by the government. This unfortunate incident is not a natural disaster but a man-made disaster. Innocent followers have been victimised due to the government's unplanned planning. The government is entirely responsible for this incident and the deaths. I publicly condemn the government for this tragedy. Similarly, a case of culpable homicide should be registered against the government immediately. Ajit Pawar demanded that the decision taken regarding the program planning, the errors in the planning and the accident caused by it should be investigated by a retired judge.

Give INR 20 lakh to the relatives of the deceased and INR 5 lakh to the affected

Government cannot shake away its responsibility by giving only INR 5 lakh to the relatives of the deceased. Financial assistance of INR 20 lakh each to the families of those who died in the accident and a government job to one family member. Ajit Pawar has also demanded in the letter that the victims should be given free treatment and INR 5 lakh each.
