On Friday, February 12, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray visited Palghar and said his government was committed to the welfare of the tribal-dominated district.

The geographical structure of Palghar district is favourable in terms of tourism as the district enjoys a wide coastline. While speaking at a press conference, Thackeray stated that he would develop the district through tourism as it is necessary to do so for the overall development of the district.

Moreover, he added that the focus would be on developing the health, education, communication, water, industrial and tourism sectors in the district.

Meanwhile, during his visit to Jamsar PHC in Jawhar, Thackeray appreciated the rangolis and traditional artworks created by tribals adding that the Warli paintings from the region should be promoted so that people from far and wide are aware of its beauty.

On the other hand, earlier on January 16, a special court in Thane district granted bail to 89 people with regards to the Palghar mob lynching case, in which two sadhus and their driver were killed.

According to reports, district judge S B Bahalkar, in his order, granted bail to the 89 accused and will next hear the matter on February 15. Moreover, Satish Maneshinde, the special public prosecutor in the case, said, “The ones granted bail on Saturday were arrested subsequently and have not been charge-sheeted as yet.” Meanwhile, advocates Amrut Adhikari and Atul Patil submitted that the applicants had no role to play in the attack and police had arrested them on mere suspicion further questioning the validity of three FIRs registered in the case.
